The philosophy
The character 御 means what is set before the emperor
In classical Chinese, 御 (yù) describes what was prepared for the imperial table — cooked with the highest standard of care that a kitchen could offer.
Yu by Si Jie takes that idea as a measure rather than a decoration. The kitchen works the way a fine-dining room is supposed to work: precise control of heat, ingredients chosen for the season, and plates composed so they earn a second look before the first bite.
The result is Chinese cooking presented with the discipline and quiet of a formal dining room — familiar flavours, held to an exacting standard.

From the kitchen
Composed plate by plate
A selection of work from our kitchen — seafood cooked to the second, slow-built broths, and the precise knife work that Chinese banquet cooking is built on.

The lineage
Twenty years, and a name built in Northern California
Si Jie — known to her guests as Amy — has spent more than twenty years in restaurants.
In Northern California she built Special Noodle into a recognised name, and later carried it to Austin and to Las Vegas. Each opening taught the same lesson: guests return for consistency, and consistency is a discipline.
Yu is her next step. Where Special Noodle is a bowl you come back to every week, Yu is the room you book for the evening that matters.

The room
Look for the green and gold sign
Yu sits behind an arched limestone entrance at Suite 190, on South Rampart Boulevard in Las Vegas.
